U 644 - Ekilla bridge

This runestone was found in the foundation of a bridge, and was moved 25 meters north of the bridge in 1860. It was raised in memory of the same man as on U 654.

Old norse transcription

Andvéttr ok <kiti> ok Kárr ok Blesi ok Djarfr þeir reistu stein þenna eptir Gunnleif, fǫður sinn. Hann fell austr með Ingvari. Guð hjalpi ǫndinni.

Translation

“Andvätt and kiti and Kår and Bläse and Djärv, they raised this stone in memory of Gunnlev, their father. He fell in the east with Ingvar. May God help his spirit.”
